I wish I had more gossip from this trip but I was in bed by 2AM on all nights, which in Miami is equivalent to 8PM :(
What can I say? This is my 8th art basel, and the most luxurious offering of the entire trip was actually being able to go to sleep and wake up at my leisure without a teething little tot who has just learnt to roll over to her front and scream until she is picked up and patted (a bad habit I am trying to break, but more on that later)
While I did not hit the club, I did indeed hit the Confidante’s breakfast buffet hard — and it hit me back.
I know no one asked for my breakfast photos but my substack, my rules people. Here is an obligatory beach pic BEFORE the food baby/ consequences set in.
As an Australian, I speak about bikinis on good authority. My culture is not a costume, so trust me when I say I have tried almost every kind out there to exist. Personally I love a good animal print dolce esque style classic two piece. I don’t think that’s a purchase that will ever go out of style. I equate it to a never fail black bikini, who is here not just for a good time.. but a long time like this Hunza G Lurex (no sizing necessary)
I landed on Thursday and kicked off the Iro Paris x Soho House Tent party. IMO the Soho House Tent is the only place to be at Art Basel. Everything else is child’s play to me. I am new to this brand but I LOVED all their pieces. Especially this Lurex Halter Dress I got to wear. A slinky little “I am away from my child” type number that I didn’t put to good use because I didn’t have the rager this dress deserved. BUT I did see the iconic and amazing Desiree and Layla Benitez play after me #djgirlbossvibes and they were fabulous. The majority of the crowd who were definitely on some type of Ketamine definitely didn’t deserve them but hey, it was after all art basel!
I spent the majority of my non work obligated time just laying on the beach doing nothing. Usually I try to get down to the fair but the traffic was it’s usual terrible self and I was not trying to be in a chatty Miami uber for an hour each way.
My final gig was the Surface Mag x Luminaire Party in the Design District. A cute, chic crowd, who dare I say — actually saw some art???? Also please see below a hair appreciation post. If you could understand the postpartum hair loss struggle I have been through, you would know what an achievement this is. So please let me have it.
Followed by a cute dinner at Cecconi’s with some dear friends, where we consumed an exorbitant amount of truffled dishes and a food coma that resulted in all of us bailing on the Nylon party and having a relatively early night in. 1AM! Late for me.
And just like that, me and my all star players (see below) were on our way back.
I didn’t anticipate this turning into such a long entry but it turns out I really am enjoying this new substack. Takes me back to my live journal days (Tell me you were born in the 80s, without telling me!) Thanks so much for stepping outside with me. Until next time, ciao for now! x
